Have you ever been somewhere and felt like you were somewhere else?
That happened to me a couple of weekends ago at the Playa Largo Resort in Key Largo.
The Marriot is resort located a little over an hour away from our beautiful Miami, and is quite literally a little slice of paradise.
In one word: WOW.
The resort boasts a gorgeous private beach (complete with mangrove trees for shade); an enormous, heated pool (read visit in the winter 😉 that’s open 24 hours; a state of the art spa; and three restaurants on the property. If you’d like, you can dock your boat at their marina (for a fee) or participate in one of the many water sport/activities available.
The grounds are stunning, the service is excellent, and the rooms are modern (for those of us who aren’t into the 60s Florida Keys décor of wicker furniture and monstera palm accessories sprinkled everywhere).
What else could you ask for?
Well, now that you mentioned it, there is a kid’s club where you can take your kids during the hours of excruciating sunshine to play or work on crafts. They also have the Eventide party every day at sunset complete with a live band, light bites and pineapple cocktails. But that’s not all, have some unwanted/negative energy you’d like to get rid of? No problem. Head to their drift table and write down all those negative things that are afflicting you and burn them away in the Eventide bonfire. Then, you can make yourself a yummy snack at the store fire pit.
I mean, what’s not to love?
There was not one person who visited for my son’s birthday who was less than marveled with their stay. The words of one of our youngest members (Leanna) sum up all 45 of our opinions on Monday morning: “I wish we had woken up at that Playa Largo place today.”
