Blue Ridge Mountains: A Fall Foliage Trip Itinerary

Fall, for me, has always been a magical time. It denotes the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year: our holiday season. And with it comes the enchanting changing of the leaves, which is nothing short of magic itself. But in South Florida we don’t get to experience much changing of seasons. And while I’m ok with it for most of the year, at this particular time, I get a little bummed. So last year, I put together a short trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains to experience the whimsical fall foliage, and it did not disappoint. Many of my friends have asked for the details of this trip and I’ve attached the itinerary below: 

Fall Foliage Trip 2019

Thursday November 7th

*Flight Mia-Atl 

*Car rental 

*Drive to Helen, GA 1hr 45 min. 

*Discover Helen: Fudge a must. 

*Are we even in A German town if we don’t go to the Hofbrauhaus for SCHNITZEL and BIER?

*Stay at Hampton Inn Helen on the River

Friday November 8th

*Up early for train ride with Blue Ridge Scenic Parkway. Need to arrive before 10:30 am 

*Drive is 1hr 20 min. WAZE.

*Das Kaffee Haus: Peanut butter and chocolate latte, you’ll thank me later.

*11:00 am train departs. 4 hour tour to town that is in state border line of TN & GA, go to Copperhill brewery

* Blue Ridge Olive Oil Company after train ride, must try Tuscan herb infused olive oil & balsamic vinegar

*Drive to cabin in Waynesville through the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway 2+ hours.

*Frankie’s Italian Trattoria: ONE OF THE BEST PIZZAS OF MY LIFE. 

Saturday November 9th

*Downtown Asheville for a stroll.

*Sierra Nevada Brewery: LOVED IT 

*North Carolina Arboretum: BEAUTIFUL

*Hot tub 

Sunday November 10th

*Skytop Orchards Apple Picking: So cute!!! Little ones loved it and older ones too! 

*Drive down to Tallulah Gorge:STUNNING 

*Tallulah Gorge: WOW

*Drive down to Atlanta

*Dinner in Downtown

Monday November 11th

*GA Aquarium. LOVE. Do an experience!!! We did the Behind the scenes tour. It’s great!!

*Dinner at Six Feet Under= BOMB!! Try the rat toes. Trust me. They aren’t rat toes. 

*Go home…. how long did you think this would go on for?
