La Taberna Giralda, Your Newest Brunch Spot

It is no secret that I frequent La Taberna Giralda quite often. It’s my little spot. Apart from being one of the only ways I would see my friend Karen, its owner, it has an excellent variety of tapas, a great wine menu and the best Flamenco show in the Gables (on Saturdays).

But recently, it added another item to that already awesome list: BRUNCH… and it’s pretty great.

With breakfast items you’d likely only find in Spain and some Miami favorites with a Spanish twist, the brunch menu is bound to give you your Madre Patria fix.

And, of course, what Brunch is complete without bottomless mimosas? Well, CAVA-mosas prepared with the Spanish version of champagne.

Convinced yet? You should be.

But allow me to describe some of my favorite menu items beginning with the Pizza Mañera. This giant toast comes lathered with salmoreja (a tomato paste); then it’s topped with slices of delicious serrano ham and tiny fried quail eggs. One word: delectable. You could also try España en Miami, which is a croqueta preparada made with their to-die-for ham and bechamel croquettes, serrano ham, manchego cheese and red pimentones: YUM! Finally, I HIGHLY recommend the Catalan Waffle that comes topped with their home-made crema catalana and caramelized sugar over vanilla ice cream.

To top off the yummy food, there’s great music and a fun vibe. I hosted a 40 person brunch there for my birthday and everyone had a blast (we ended up staying two hours past closing–sorry Karen!).

If you don’t believe me, check them out for yourselves and let me know what you think. I promise you won’t regret it.
