Ayesha: Authentic Indian in Miami

I’ve been a huge fan of the Ayesha Group since I moved a couple of blocks away from their Palmetto Bay location and fell in love.

Enjoying my Taj and a camel ride

Give me Indian food, and you’ve got one happy America. Give me good Indian food, and well, you might never get rid of me (as they have quickly learned at the location near my home).

So when I heard that they had opened another location (their 4th) in Midtown, I had to try it.

Ayesha Midtown is different from their other locations in that their menu offers more southern Indian options. In the fashion of their other restaurants, it’s colorful but with a twist. Being that they are near the artsy Wynwood area, their walls are covered in bright murals depicting elephants, camels and even the Taj Mahal. It’s decor and ambiance is definitely Midtown worthy.

So much to eat, so little time

Now onto the food: you can expect it will be great with a brand like the Ayesha group standing behind it.

Biryani? Yes, please!

We ordered the veggie samosas and fried cauliflower to start along with some garlic and cheese naan. The veggie samosas are always good, but the fried cauliflower was something I wasn’t expecting. It was a breaded cauliflower with an almost sweet-and-sour style glaze—different but delightful. And, of course, the naan at Ayesha is some of my favorite. The garlic really tastes like garlic and the cheese oozes off of their cheese naan—even cold, their naan is incredible.

We can all be a little cheesy…

Then, we had lamb biryani, the Ayesha mixed grill, and makhani chicken or butter chicken. All great.

Mixed grill

The mixed grill brings a variety of meats and can be ordered from mild to spicy, according to your preference. A selection of lamb chops, chicken, and jumbo shrimp are seasoned with tandoor spice and grilled to perfection. The lamb biryani was spectacular as usual, with a kick of spice yet flavorful. The tender lamb is one of my favorite parts of the biryani rice (I almost don’t have to chew). And you can’t ever go wrong with butter chicken. The Indian staple is a great go-to for people who are just venturing into the cuisine.

Add a king-sized Taj Mahal beer, and you’ve got the perfect Indian dinner.

Butter chicken

Overall, I really enjoyed my meal al Ayesha Midtown, but I still prefer their Palmetto Bay location. Not only is the food to die for, the service is impeccable.

Nevertheless, if you are in the mood for great Indian food and you don’t want to drive to the ends of the world (where I reside). Then, head on over to their Midtown location and enjoy!
