Do you love rooftop bars? I do. I feel they give me a special glimpse of a city. Something about them is both liberating and magical. I make it a point to go to at least one in most cities I visit… and in my own?
Well, a rooftop is always welcome.
Last Friday, my friend invited me to a rooftop bar in Wynwood for his birthday celebration. When I looked it up, I wasn’t really impressed, to be honest. It was atop a bar I have visited before, and I hadn’t remembered anything memorable, other than it was cute and the food was good. But nothing out of the ordinary at Wynwood. So I didn’t set my expectations high.
However, when I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The outdoor bar stood under a terrace on a wooden deck decorated by shrubbery. The lighting was perfect and the Greek background music set for a very chill vibe. When the host directed us to our bed-table at the bar, I couldn’t help but think, how Miami chic… I obviously have a picture there (see below).
We ordered our food and drinks and waited, enjoying the music and the fresh evening air. From the bar, we could see a window to the kitchen with fresh seafood laying on a bed of ice.
The entire restaurant was cozy and dimly lit, perfect for admiring the scenic views of our beautiful downtown.
The food arrived, and it was delicious. We kept it light because we were going to have drinks, but I will definitely be back. WE had the calamari, the hummus platter, and the grilled chicken– all delicious.
Later, when our friends arrived, we moved to the far end of the bar where we had an area all to ourselves. We ordered bottles of prosecco and chatted with a background of music in open format.
